Currently, a captch appears when a user requests to login via the comment form: http://quality.mozilla.org/user/login?destination=node/385%2523comment-form This captcha should be removed from the login page to the actual comment submission form. STR: 1. Click the attached URL - or - 1. Go to QMO and ensure you are logged out 2. Click on one of the events on the right 3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Login under "Make a Comment"
I consider this bad for a couple of reasons: 1. The intent is to block spammers, but it is ineffective. There is nothing stopping spammers from using the non-captcha login at the top of the page and submitting their spam comments 2. Some users might wish to use the comment login link to just log in. They might scroll through the page to find they aren't logged in and wish to do so. Scrolling all the way back to the top is a lot of work and being forced to put in a captcha is just as annoying.

Why do we even have that on logging in? Captcha-type security should only apply to anonymous users... What do you think, Aakash?

I don't have the slightest clue why it was implemented this way. It'd be good to get tomcat's viewpoint on this since he's been doing this longer than I have. But, I'm in agreement with you guys.
