We need a CTA for the upcoming Firefox parties -- either one to replace the "Join" block or go above the "Featured Projects" block.

Alex or Neil:  Can you get Jay the files for the CTA Join block and the Featured Projects block?

I emailed the font pack for the CTA text.  The rest should stay the same, or is just a text change.

How will this be displayed?  Are we completely replacing the "Join" and "Start" CTAs?  Or, choosing between them randomly?  other?

Isn't this type of info supposed to fit IN the Featured Projects block?

We're going to replace the entire square block for the "Join" or "Spread" with a new "Party" block with a more festive design.

The Party info will fit into the current layout of the Featured Project block, but we wanted to create a new copy of that block with a more festive design as well...which will just have 1 topic: "Firefox 3.5 Launch Parties!" or something like that.

Basically, I was going to create 2 options and see which one works better for the SFX front page.   In order to do that, I need the images so I can make sure the look and feel fits the current SFX design.  I'll just be adding a few custom images to the block and we'll have updated text for "Party" related messaging.

Thanks Alex.  Could you also point me to the yellow "Spread" images?  I think we will probably go with replacing the "Spread" block, since it makes a bit more sense.  After some thought, I think replacing the "Start" would be bad for those that are still arriving for the first time and need to learn more.

Replacing "Spread" with "Party" for a short period will work better.

Jay just wanted the artwork for the current CTAs & the "featured project" block to create a new Firefox party CTA.  I think we're set here with the files Alex put up.  Let me know if I am wrong!

Morgamic:  We just want to replace the images and text for the "Spread" block on the front page of SFX to promote Firefox 3.5 parties.  I'll have the images early next week, so you guys can take a look and let me know if it's doable.

This file is a bit bigger than the original, so will also attach the .psd in case webdev wants to make it smaller.

Also, the image height is a bit more than the original, but only on top, so it should look fine as long as it is placed in the same location (shouldn't block any text above it).

Hey,

I took the background image from comment #12 and dropped it in using Firebug.  Screenshot attached

As you can see, it's a little off.  The text lays on top of the background (cutting it off) and the added height on top creates a weird yellow bar on the top.

Can you modify the image so that it,

1) doesn't extend the height past the top border

2) doesn't encroach on the text below

Alex:  Try this one.  I think it will be ok for the "Spread" or "Party!" text image to sit on top of the balloon ribbons... as long as it is a clean overlay. Let's see what it looks like and if we need to tweak this a bit more, I can tomorrow.

Will there be a separate site to find a party to go to or will this block also be used for that? Just wondering if we should tweak the text to mention finding a party or if that's left out on purpose.

Lucy:  The text in the block that I proposed is up for modification.  Good point about "finding" parties.  We can change it to say something like:

Plan an event or find a party to attend to celebrate the release of Firefox 3.5!

Alex:  Can we get the page implemented with the final image and the text above to see what it looks like?  If it fits, great!  If not, we can modify it.

We will have more info on the party page on SFX, so we don't need to put all the details in the CTA on the front page.
