User-Agent:       Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042513 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.10
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042513 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.10

A webpage which contain the following style:
font-family:Courier,Helvetica;
is displayed fine. However, when printing it under Windows XP, the printout is garbled. (Under Linux the printout is fine). I have tested this with Firefox 3.0.10 as well with 3.5 Beta 4.
If the webpage is changed to
font-family:Courier new,Helvetica;
the printout under Windows is working.

Reproducible: Always
Printing with CutePDF as the print driver exhibits similar behavior (Windows XP SP3).

Apparently, FF 2.0.0.20 and FF 3.5 do not render fonts the same way. Under FF 2.0.0.20, printing an html document containing Courier, Helvetica and Helvetica-Bold fonts generates a PDF where CutePDF substitutes CourierStd, ArialMT and Arial-BoldMT. When printing the very same html document from Firefox 3.5, CutePDF substitutes two True Type custom fonts (TTE109B009t00, TTE1997920t00). In testing with other documents, I also discovered FF 3.5 now converts the Courier font to a graphic image of the original text. Firefox 2.0.0.20 does not exhibit this behavior. The result is that CutePDF generates a significantly larger PDF when used with Firefox 3.5,
This is a MAJOR issues for corporate users who use Zimbra on FF 3+ (Win XP). Zimbra uses Courier as its mono-spaced font for emails. When these users go to print their emails they get a garbled mess.

Please prioritize this bug.
It doesn't happen when using Courier New, but with Courier.

IIUC, this is *not* a duplicate of bug 436788.

Both are bugs with Courier that don't happen with Courier New, but they manifest differently.

In the case of bug 436788, only a single special character ("Š") is printed incorrectly -- whereas in this bug, *all* characters print incorrectly.

Please kindly let me know if this needs to be tested with http://webmail.earthlink.net due to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453407 and https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=554858 ... :)
Once this is fixed, that would be appreciated.

The attachment at bug 454532 comment 84 contains a fix for this bug.
Depends on: 454532
Still having the problem.
Didn't get fixed here!
No one said this was fixed yet -- Adrian just said that there was a potential fix posted, over on the other bug.

It looks like Adrian posted an updated version of that patch in bug 454532 comment 125, and it's awaiting review. Hopefully it can land on trunk soon (at which point it'll hit a Firefox release after ~12 weeks)
Glad its still open.
My latest printout-- from Delta about a ticket schedule is worse than ever
A version of the fix that I was referring to in Comment 12 has recently landed on our Development trunk, available at http://nightly.mozilla.org/ (see bug 454532 comment 128).

Hopefully that fixes the problem that Hillary's hitting.

Hillary (or others hitting this bug): if you're willing to test a Nightly development version of Firefox, it'd be useful if you could confirm whether that patch fixes this for you.

(You may want to create a new profile first (and set it as default for the duration of your Nightly testing), since occasionally there can be problems from switching back and forth between different browser versions with the same Firefox profile. Instructions on how to do that are available here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles )
I'm not seeing a pro blem when using current nightly

I haven't seen this issue (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=554858) in EarthLink's webmail for a while for others and me in both SeaMonkey v2.26.1 (and lower, not using the newer versions due to other issues) and the newer Firefox versions.
