User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1b4) Gecko/20090423 Firefox/3.5b4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1pre) Gecko/20090602 Shredder/3.0b3pre ID:20090602024647 In Shredder nightly build, subfolders are not appearing correctly in Gmail IMAP. Only first- and second-level folders appear. Third-level (and deeper) do not appear. These folders can be created in Shredder, but are hidden on restart. Any messages in third-level or deeper folders are not downloaded, indexed or searchable. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a folder in Gmail. Add subfolder "Foo", containing subfolder "Bar". 2. Move message into "Bar" folder. 3. Restart Shredder and watch as your third-level folder magically disappears. Actual Results: Any folders created by Shredder appear properly as labels in Gmail (e.g. "NewFolder/Foo/Bar") and messages moved to that folder are tagged with the proper label in Gmail. However Shredder does not index these folders nor are they selectable in the folder window UI, or in the Offline folder list. Messages do still appear in "All Mail" folder. Nested folders can all be seen in Subscribe window, but subscribing does not do anything. Folders still will not appear in main window.
Possible to regain functionality in nested folders only by deleting and re-creating Gmail account. Some change in nightlies didn't work with existing settings. This is the first time I have had this happen with Gmail IMAP.

This is the first time I have had this happen with Gmail IMAP. So can you still reproduce the issue ? if so can you follow the instructions at https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Logging and provide us with an imap log ? If you can't can you close this bug as invalid ?
OS: Mac OS X → All
Hardware: x86 → All
I also reproduced this problem. Attached imap.log to gmail server, while problem is reproduced. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1) Gecko/20090715 Thunderbird/3.0b3. 1. Created folder INBOX/foo 2. Created folder INBOX/foo/foo2 3. Restarted 4. Activity log shows tertiary 'foo2' subfolder gets deleted after restart. 5. Subsequent restarts deletes 'foo2' each time.

I have the same problem... It is new to thunderbird 3.0b3 (occurs with the 3.0b4 nightly compiled on 7/27). 3.0b2 works fine and does not reproduce this problem with sub-sub folders...
As for Gmail IMAP, I couldn't observe phenomenon written in bug summary and comment #0. (i.e. This bug is WORKSFORME for me) > Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2pre) Gecko/20090724 Shredder/3.0b4pre (a) Create AA/CD/EF/GH by Tb : AA with "+" button(expand button) appears. All subfolders can be accessed by expand. (b) Create BB, BB/CD, BB/CD/EF, BB/CD/EF/GH by Tb : Created folder with "+" button(expand button) appears. (c) Create CC, CC/CD, CC/CD/EF, CC/CD/EF/GH by other IMAP client, and restart Tb : CC with "+" button(expand button) appears. All subfolders can be accessed by expand.
(In reply to comment #6) > I have the same problem... It is new to thunderbird 3.0b3 (occurs with the > 3.0b4 nightly compiled on 7/27). drobinson@corvidtec.com, Gmail IMAP? If no, add comment to Bug 506095(non Gmail IMAP case) instead of this bug for Gmail IMAP, after clarify what phenomenon occurs with which build.
(a) Right click and select "New Folder". Enter 'aa'. (b) Right click on 'aa' and select "New Folder". Enter 'bb'. (c) Right click on 'bb' and select "New Folder". Enter 'cc'. All three levels of sub-folders show up. Then, if I hit File/Exit and restart thunderbird, the tab to expand 'bb' is gone. You cannot see the 'cc' sub-sub-folder. I am using Windows-7rc, thunderbird 3.0b4 nightly from 7/27, Google Apps premier edition, Silvermel theme, and lightning and Zindus plug-ins.
I tried to repeat the above starting shredder in safe-mode. The same problem occurs. One thing that I noticed was that when I restart shredder, the sub-sub-folders are in the list. However, they get removed within a couple of seconds during what appears to be a folder list update.
(In reply to comment #9) > Silvermel theme Can you reproduce problem with standard Theme?
Yes... I tried after uninstalling Silvermel, Lightning, and Zindus. The problem still persists. I also tried it in safe-mode. Same problem.
I could observe phenomena consistently by several restarts of Tb, with both 7/24 build and 7/28 build, after checking "Show only subscribed folder". drobinson@corvidtec.com, do you enable "Show only subscribed folder" option?
I don't think so... I don't even see the "show only subscribed folder" option. Where is this located?
Server Settings -> Advanced button.
Thanks... "Show only subscribed folder" was turned on by default. When I turned this off, most of my sub-sub folders showed up. Not all of them, but most of them. When I minimized the top-level folder, and then re-expanded it, all of the sub-sub folders showed up... If I re-selct "Show only subscribed folders", the sub-sub folders go away even though they show up as "subscribed" when I right-click and select the "subscribe" option to display all of the subscribed folders. For now, I will leave the "show only subscribed folders" option off. It would be helpful to be able to leave this on as I would like to be able to unsubscribe from the gmail/"all mail" folder to prevent a duplication of all of my email on my local storage... David
(In reply to comment #16) > It would be helpful to be able to leave this on as I would like to be able to > unsubscribe from the gmail/"all mail" folder to prevent a duplication of all of > my email on my local storage... If you don't want to keep local copy of all of Gmail as local copy of "[Gmail]/All Mails" folder, disable offline-use option of [Gmail]/All Mail. Auto-sync of Tb 3 is already improved. Auto-sync of Tb 3 respects per folder offline use option. Adding "Show only subscribed folder" to bug summary for ease of seacrh.
Summary: Nested folders in Gmail IMAP do not appear in Shredder nightly → Nested folders in Gmail IMAP do not appear in Shredder nightly, when "Show only subscribed folder" is enabled
