The scrubber is moved forward but stops immediately. Can be seen on all platforms and with Minefield and Shiretoko. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cd/Ell-Lernaia_Ydra.ogg

This audio example is from the list of formerly crashing media files on bug 487519.

My debug build shows asserts on this media: ###!!! ASSERTION: No frame after decode!: 'frame != nsnull', file /Users/dolske-bulk/build/mozilla-central/content/media/video/src/nsOggDecoder.cpp, line 1356

gdb stack
This looks somehow broken. I'll try to get a better one with minefield.

Justin, with Minefield I'm not able to get a stack for this assertion. The browser hangs up and has to be killed. Do you see the same? I'll raise the severity.

I didn't encounter a hang. It just plays for a second and then stops.
I don't see a hang and I don't see us leak any threads when we destroy the window, so that's a bit reassuring. I think Chris Double mentioned that there's a deeper bug in the Ogg libraries that needs to be fixed to get some of these files to play. I'll get him to comment.

http://whatthebert.com/ihameed/boomtss/zurie-piratesxaimusremix.ogg shows the same behavior. I cannot reproduce the hang anymore. Probably it was a side-effect with some other tests I was running. Lowering security.
Severity: critical → normal
Summary: Ogg audio is not played (click on play moves scrubber but stop immediately) → ASSERTION: "No frame after decode!" (click on play moves scrubber but stop immediately)

I am not seeing a hang, but I do see the files not playing. (In reply to comment #1) > This audio example is from the list of formerly crashing media files on bug > 487519. Hmmm, Ell-Lernaia_Ydra.ogg is invalid: $ oggzvalidate.exe Ell-Lernaia_Ydra.ogg Ell-Lernaia_Ydra.ogg: Error: serialno 0000029453: granulepos 0 on page with no completed packets, must be -1 serialno 0000029453: granulepos 0 on page with no completed packets, must be -1 serialno 0000029453: granulepos 0 on page with no completed packets, must be -1 serialno 0000029453: missing *** eos But oggzvalidate claims zurie-piratesxaimusremix.ogg is valid.

This is a duplicate of bug 520500, libfishsound fails to parse the comment fields in these two files. There's a work-in-progress patch in bug 521863 (which should be moved to bug 520500).
