User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042316 Firefox/3.0.10 Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.21 (20090302) If I leave Thunderbird running over the weekend, or during the week, after a few days it will stop retrieving mail. If I click the get mail button, I will get a connection refused message from the pop3 server. The only fix is to reboot the computer. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Leave Thunderbird running for 2-3 days 2. Click Get Mail 3. Error occurs I am running Norton Anti-Virus 2005 with latest updates. This has been a problem for over a year since I started running Thunderbird.
Shouldn't there be a Networking Component so i don't have to pick "General"?
Version: unspecified → 2.0
Sure, but since we share all the networking code with SeaMonkey, we should put it in MailNews Core instead of in Thunderbird.
Component: General → Networking: POP
Product: Thunderbird → MailNews Core
QA Contact: general → networking.pop
Version: 2.0 → 1.8 Branch
see bug 152675 and bug 323520. Anything ring true there?
Not really - I don't have problems with "folder being processed" coincident with this issue. (Not that I never see that message, but it does not seem to interfere with downloading). This is specifically, downloading messages from my earthlink pop account when I leave tbird running for more than a few days. If I kill tbird every day before I go home from work, I don't usually see this problem.
Do you use DHCP for you PC's IP address? Is IP address assigned to your PC changed while Tb is active? > The only fix is to reboot the computer. Really reboot was mandatory? "Restart of Tb" was not sufficient? If so, problem of OS(network component), firewall software etc., isn't it? > I will get a connection refused message from the pop3 server. What message? (write down message text, or get screen shot, please)
no response to last comment, so incomplete. if you still see a problem, please reopen the bug with additional information, including protocol log for pop3 https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Logging ... preferably using version 3
