Hi,
 I have firefox.app on a server. I have mounted a share where firefox.app is located on the client machine.
When I double-click firefox.app, it crashes twice before it starts (It takes good 7 minutes to start on dual core 2 Ghz machine). I have tracked down the problem. It seems that it is looking for a profile in ~/Library/Application\ Support/Firefox. When it is available (after 1st start), firefox works fine. However, for the very first time, when it is unavailable it takes ages to create one and that too after crashing twice. 

  

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have firefox.app on the server. Mount that share on client.
2. Make sure there is no profile. Delete one if it exists in ~/Library/Application\ Support/Firefox
3. Double click on firefox icon.
Actual Results:  
It crashes twice and starts after 7 minutes.

Expected Results:  
It should start immediately.

Note that I also tested with nightly build -- minefield. I still see the same problem.

Please upgrade to 3.0.11 or later. Many crashes are fixed. Do you have a stacktrace?

As I said the problem persists in the latest nightly build too. I do not see any crash report generated and neither crash reporter pops up. Also I checked in firefox folder I do not see any reports under Crash Reported directory.

there are also older bugs about this, simply CIFS is not a supported fs, so expect any kind of issue on it.

I tried seeing why firefox was taking so much time for starting up for the very first time. It seems that it is spending bunch of its time in calling 'geteuid()'.
It is calling that function insane number of times. Any clue why ?

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.x or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
