User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090612 Firefox/3.5

The Mozilla Service Week 110x32, and 200x32 affiliate buttons are in PNG format but they have white backgrounds. Changing the backgrounds to transparent ones would be more appropriate and modern.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
View a Mozilla Service Week 110x32 or 200x32 promotional graphic against any color other than white (or view the attachment)
Actual Results:
Merged image, no alpha transparency

Expected Results:
Transparent background
Hey guys: This shouldn't be pngs, but jpegs. Alex, can you reload them?

Also, is the fix for this to just get the images updated by the design agency?

Please let me know!
So the white backgrounds are intentional?

JPEG format is really best left for photographs and for displaying graphics on IE6. :)
Nope - they were supposed to show up simply as a ribbon. Is it all of them? I don't think the jpegs have the white background which were the ones that were supposed to be there :)

Why? Is there a specific difference? PNG is the standard for our buttons,
afaik.

Someone will need to re-export the images, with transparent backgrounds. Also,
you can't have transparent backgrounds with JPEG
Oh my - sorry, I am confusing this all :( They were all supposed to be pngs! So I guess I just need these two files updated with no background.
Right, JPEGs do not support alpha transparency so there would always be some background color in a JPEG graphic.
With the exception of the 200x260 graphic (it's squared), they all have white backgrounds. The 194x500 has rounded corners so there is just a bit of white showing on that one, but white none the less.
It isn't a hard fix at all especially for the one with the original source files. Alpha transparency must be specified when saving a PNG or it will be a merged image showing white or whatever background color that was used when creating the graphics.
my donations if needed
I remade 5 of them with transparent backgrounds

I dumped the images from http://www.spreadfirefox.com/affiliates?category=54&locale=41#getbuttons into an HTML editor, changed the background color, and noticed that they are indeed using transparent backgrounds.

Verified FIXED; Ken, if you notice something wrong, please reopen -- thanks!
