User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1b99) Gecko/20090605 Firefox/3.5b99 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1b99) Gecko/20090605 Firefox/3.5b99 When I updated FF to 3.5b99 I began to notice whenever I try to download anything from anywhere the name is blank. I am using Zone Alarm Extreme on FF and IE8. Using FF I notice next to FILE name it is blank. Next to TYPE it read unknown. When I click SAVE the FILE NAME is blank. If I name the file it will download but you have to choose an application to open the file. What a pain. I switched to IE8 64 bit and tried the exact downloads. This time next to FILE there is the name of the file. Next to TYPE it give me the type of file. When I click SAVE the name of the file is there. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click download no file name or type 2. Click save as or even run no file name 3. If I name the file it will download but you have to choose an application to open the file. Actual Results: I had to choose an application to open the file. The blank file that I had to name in order to download does not have an extension. Expected Results: next to FILE there is the name of the file. Next to TYPE it give me the type of file. When I click SAVE the name of the file is there. I should not have to name a blank file only to find out I still cannot open it. This is pain because I am a FF user and not a fan of IE. I am forced to switch to IE when I need to download anything.
Please fix because I love this browser. I absolutely hate IE.

Please try http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode and if that doesn help create a new profile http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+Profiles If you still get this with a new profile try it without Zonealarm.

Zone Labs simply needs to investigate the problem with their software on their end. There's nothing Mozilla can do to fix their software problems. I suggest you just disable the offending software for now. Personally, I'd say it's not worth bothering with at all, but that's just me.

I fully agree that this is a ZoneAlarm ForceField issue that ZA, not Mozilla need to resolve. For those who are interested, there is a simple workaround for .PDF and other non .exe downloads . On the ForceField dialog box, for the unnamed file, select «open» instead of «save» and when Adobe Reader or another appropriate program opens, name and save a copy. For software downloads (.exe files), I don't trust the file to run properly if I name it, so I turn off ForceField. Also, turning off ForceField Only for a download is fairly simple, although it closes the current browser window, a bit of a pain. Turning ForceField back on is even simpler
