If the feature has been removed intentional, please consider that there are users who cannot use private browsing mode for some reason, and there is no handy way to decide on the fly what private data should be cleared. So now we have to remeber this before closing the browser. Please at least let the user set the preference (or a new one) in about:config!! I'm developer of many addons at AMO and I need that feature urgently. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: yes for sure, better to say asking on exit does not happen Actual Results: obsolete question Expected Results: obsolete question
This pref was removed in bug 469158 intentionally. You can still decide what needs to be cleaned in the "Clear Recent History" window : it's behind the details button and also in Tools->Options->Privacy (custom settings, settings button at the bottom). It's just that the 'clear every time' options is not present anymore, unless you want private browsing all the way (see Tools->Options->Privacy and 'never remember history').
The explanation Jo gave in comment 1 is complete and accurate; WONTFIXing accordingly.
