If I right click on an entry in the History menu on OSX the browser goes to the link, if I do this in Windows it ignores the click. If I right click an entry on the bookmark menu on OSX it goes to the URL of the bookmark, if I do this in Windows the browser opens a context menu.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open browser
2.Left-click on History or Bookmark menu
3.Right click on an entry in the list
Actual Results:
In OSX in the case of History or Bookmark it goes to the clicked upon website.

Expected Results:
I expected a context menu in both cases, but at least in the Bookmarks menu where I get a context menu in Windows.
That's just how native menus on OS X work - it doesn't matter whether you left- or right-click them.
Right, this is a platform behavior.

That conclusion can't be right, have you tried right-clicking an app in the dock...?

The dock is not a native menu.
