User-Agent:       Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090624 Firefox/3.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090624 Firefox/3.5

On Mac OS X, it's very hard to see the difference between the current (foreground) tab and the other (background) ones. This is actually even worst when the toolbar is hidden.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Firefox on a Mac
2. Open a couple of tabs
3. Notice how similar the colors of the background and foreground tab are
Actual Results:
I can't see the difference between the two tabs

Expected Results:
I'd like to be able to see the difference between foreground and background tabs

I'm attaching some screenshots, so people can see how bad is the default theme.

I made a litte change to my userChrome.css , I added:

tab:not([selected="true"]) {
    background-color: rgb(100,100,100) !important;
}

and IMHO the result is a much better visibility.
Just curious, does it look any different in Firefox safe mode or a new firefox profile?

The attachments "The default theme with the toolbar visible" and "The default theme with the toolbar collapsed" are screenshots of a new Firefox profile, the others two are screenshots of my current profile using the custom userChrome I posted earlier (for the record the last two look "strange" in the bottom because I use the Vimperator plugin).

When I stare long enough I can see which tab is actually active.

can this be set ? blocking 3.7 please (add a flag)
btw, the same problem with hover: over non-active tabs, basically invisable effects.

The new Australis theme addressed this issue, bug 732583. Background tabs will now be completely faded out and only the current tab will be focused.

Since the implementation is not done, I can't really mark as fixed. Instead, I will marking as a duplicate of that bug.
