After the last automatic upgrade hotmail messages will not open or delete. Also, facebook will not respond. Both sites work using IE8.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.sign in to hotmail
2. Select message
3. Message will not open or delete
After what automatic upgrade? Does this work with Firefox in safe mode? Are there any errors listed in tools -> error console?
Summary: Hotmail messages will not open. Facebook will not open. → Hotmail messages will not open
Version 3.0.11 Screen opened to "You have been upgraded to the latest version of Firefox". Doesn't work in safe mode either. tools -> error console? Don't know what that is. Still doesn't work.
So you were upgraded from Firefox 3.0.10 to Firefox 3.0.11?
For getting useful information out of the error console, start in Firefox's safe mode first (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode), then do the following:
1) Log into hotmail
2) Go to whatever you have to do before you select a message
3) Open the error console via the Tools menu, select the "Error Console" entry
4) Hit the clear button
5) Switch back to the window that has hotmail loaded
6) Select your message or delete a message
7) Switch back to the error console window and tell us what errors are listed in the there.
Did all that. Cleared errors. Selected message. Delete message did not work. No error listed in error console.

You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

Firefox bugs 366830, 500773 need to be re-opened for
Firefox Ver. 8
Hotmail works in Windows XP, but, in Firefox, I can't
. open emails, or
. select all emails in a folder,
. get to "More options",
. send emails I compose!!,
. check all emails in a folder at once.
-
I can select individual messages in my Inbox or Junk and delete them.
If I check the All box in Junk mail, none of the messages get
selected (checked).
-
The bottom left corner says "Loading...".
-
These are common to ALL my email accounts on my computer.
-
In Firefox I tried
. clearing the Internet cache,
. deleting temporary Internet files, and I am
. using HTTPS://,
. deleting all cookies and then re-starting Firefox and Hotmail.
. changing my password.
-
I AM using the latest Firefox (version 18.01).
-
Nothing helps.
-
I tried:
1)
Options
More options
Customizing Hotmail
Flagging
Don't show flagged messages at the top of the inbox
Save
-
2)
Options
More options
Customizing Hotmail
Instant Actions
unchecked Show instant actions
Save
-
Opened Firefox and Hotmail.
Still can't open or send messages.
BUT SOMETHING I DID NOW LETS ME GET
More options
in Firefox Hotmail!!!
-
Woops! Today 1/28/13 I cannot get "More options" again.
-
I have NOT tried:
. using Firefox default Profile, whatever that is--
the procedure isn't simple and other threads say it didn't
work for long--the problem re-surfaced after a few keystrokes;

-
. Firefox/Hotmail on another computer. (I only have one.)
