Using Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090730 Minefield/3.6a1pre I get attached error.

The issue here is that direct linking to the file causes the XPI install process to run for some reason. The expected behavior should be to show the "Add Search Engine" dialog.

Now you just get an XML file which is correct. Search engines are just XML, you need JS to run the install search actions.
