User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090624 Firefox/3.5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090624 Firefox/3.5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) i just download the FireFox 3.5 RC 3 ... CPU Usage 100 % dats quite wired ... my all services are below 1% but 97 process taken by Firefox ... http://img141.imageshack.us/i/bug2ocp.jpg/ Reproducible: Always
The first thing to do in such a case is http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
Version: unspecified → 3.5 Branch
I can confirm this behaviour happens on my 3.5 release winXP Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090624 Firefox/3.5 ID:20090624025744 http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/1899/ff35cpuusage20090624025.jpg happens on all non-cached pages, safe-mode, fresh profile, fresh install directory, no plugins, 3rd party adverts blocked by hosts file after the page has fully loaded and rendered there is an immediate spike in CPU usage (99%) for 5-10 seconds, this behaviour didnt happen in 3.11, happened on the RC2 candidate and the final 3.5 release, javascript on or off the results are the same
What pages are you loading?
I get this on fark, slashdot, metafilter, basically any site that is not cached (visited that session) and/or has dynamic content, no av/firewall on my test machine (natted) and its firefox.exe that is causing the 100% cpu the machine is also fully uptodate (xpsp3 etc), regressing back to 3.11 everything goes back to normal (minimal cpu usage, fast loading on non-cached/dynamic content sites)
I tested this with many versions of web-sites. It seems to be the amount of used formular fields. Any time my sites uses more then perhaps 200 fields at once, a cpu-sleep-time follows. In one site there are more than 2000 radio buttons - I have to wait for 1 minute until Firefox/3.5.1 re-awakes.
register@just-edv.de: you mean a known and different bug
Comment 5 is seeing bug 477564. Which appears to be unrelated to this bug.
