From IRC ted: i think we need to ignore DUPLICATE bugs though
Yeah, I think that makes sense.
is this "shouldn't display duplicate bugs" or "the backend shouldn't associate duplicate bugs"?
I don't think Sam or I care how it's fixed, as long as duplicate bugs don't show up in the UI.
I think it makes sense to remove the backend association since the data itself is not useful. Showing dupes leads them down a rabbit hole to find the actual bug, so it's safe to remove the association altogether. Sorry I didn't catch this earlier.
I changed my mind (can I do that still?). There are some cases when a duplicate may show without an actual bug showing in our lists. The one I ran across today is duped to a closed security bug which Socorro (rightfully) doesn't report on. In these cases, having the duplicates in the list helps to let us know that a bug is on file, even if Socorro isn't seeing it for some reason. http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/list?product=Firefox&version=Firefox%3A3.0.11&query_search=signature&query_type=exact&query=&date=&range_value=1&range_unit=weeks&do_query=1&signature=nsSubDocumentFrame%3A%3AReflow%28nsPresContext*%2C%20nsHTMLReflowMetrics%26%2C%20nsHTMLReflowState%20const%26%2C%20unsigned%20int%26%29
Seems like we should err on the side of having more information than not.
