I changed the "mailto:" pref to use Thunderbird instead of 'default' (why?- this is another issue).

 Now if I "send link", Firefox continuously opens new tabs (several per second) until I can manually kill firefox and associated processes from a different shell.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Change prefs->applicaions->mailto: to Thunderbird
2. menu: File->Send link
3. 
Actual Results:  
new <empty> tabs are created, rapidly filling the tab bar...

Expected Results:  
open Tbird 'send' window with current URL

Linux, Fedora Core 10:  Up to date as of 06/30/2009

On OSX 10.5.7, Firefox 3.5.1, the mailto setting was set to "Always Ask" and I experienced the same issue.  Changing the value to OSX's Mail(.app) corrected the problem. Also, when I changed it back to "always ask", just as a test, the issue was no longer happening.
Reporter, please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later in a fresh profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). Also update your plugins (flash, adobe reader, java, quicktime, silverlight, etc/) Go to the developer's website and download the latest version from there.

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
