Does this happen when you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode. i think an extension, probably Tab Mix plus, is causing this.
Component: General → Tabbed Browser
QA Contact: general → tabbed.browser
Version: unspecified → 3.5 Branch
Either what Tyler said or
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.tabs.closeButtons
Short version: Change browser.tabs.closeButtons to 1 in about:config. Please report back if this fixes your issue.

Using trunk nightlies. I am having this problem when more than six tabs are opened. Six or less tabs and the close button is there. With seven or more tabs open then only the focused tab has a close button. browser.tabs.closeButtons is set to 1 and I don't use TMP. It also happens in safe-mode, all extensions disabled. Not life-threatening but a nuisance.

This is intentional, as the close button could be hit accidentally when the tabs get too small. The preference for this is browser.tabs.tabClipWidth.

Thanks, that understandable. I had wondered about changing the clip value.
Sorry for hijacking the bug.
