Several news postings have failed today. They seem to be all instances where the post was mailed to the mailing list as opposed to being nntp posts. Warren's error was only transient and it looks like it finally made it through. Shaver, could you try re-posting? Maybe this was part of the earlier news horkage. Although I thought the news server had been fixed by the time the shaver and crypto-checkins messages were sent. However the news server was down twice today so i'm not sure exactly when it was up. two automatic messages to mozilla.crypto.checkins bounced at 18:31. Shaver's problem was at 15:23:52, and warren's at 10:55. Note that warren's problem was transient and i see that the post finally made it through. I've forwarded the crypto checkins posts to Risto and Markus. Shaver and Warren forwarded their bounce mail to staff. I tried several posts to builds and svg and they all worked. what happens to mail sent to the mozilla-foobar mailing lists when the news server is down? do they bounce or do they just get queued?
when the news server is down, messages should just stay in the queue until newsgate can deliver them.
News server had connection problems.
