please create a legal page, similar to the page on getpersonas.com (create your own) flow with the following exceptions: 1. include all relevant guidelines about project art. 2. do not include licensing options. rather, the guidelines should indicate that entering the competition means your work is submitted through a creative commons license, and include a link to additional information. Attached is the overall flow for student submissions. This step is #3.
Is this no longer going to be a contest?
yes, it is going to be a competition. the subdomain url may change.
Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks Catherine. We are getting there. Suneel, do you have any comment?
Revised rules - incorporating change to Section 9. Marked to show the changes.
Attachment #394842 - Attachment is obsolete: true
Comments for Sean: 1. can we make the "see a tutorial here" and mozilla labs personas logo (top left) open up new windows, instead of navigating away from the competition page? 2. can we bold the tabs on the top? 3. Under the "How it Works Section" Sept 22-Oct 6 copy has been revised to: Community voting period! The 10 Persona designs with the most active daily users (ADUs) at the end of the competition advance to the finals. What is an active daily user (ADU)? An active daily user is a person that selects and keeps your Persona design in their browser. Once a day, we count the number of people that have selected and kept your design in their browser since their last browsing session. This number is your designs number of ADUs, which is displayed in the gallery under your design.

I added the new judge alan bamberger, except his job title was missing from comment #16 Azehren, could you choose a job title please?
Oh, I see now that the portrait images have a fancy little clip at the bottom, Sean do you want to handle that for the new portrait?
Sean, Sharing this with c-beard and others, there is some concern with the order of the "celebrity judges", mainly that a user needs to scroll down to discover non-Mozilla judges. Could we do one of the following: 1. Present thumbnails of each judge across a row at the top of the page. Underneath each thumbnail, we should also include name and title. Thumbnails and name should link to each user bio. Also open to a simpler version of this option (eg, no thumbnail, just linked name and title) if necessary. OR 2. If option 1 is not manageable, let's reorder the judges in a way that allows non-celebrity judges to be more discoverable.
I set them in alphabetical order so there would be no concern for the order based on celebrity status. A reorder would be best considering the timeline, but under what criteria should we order them now?
(In reply to comment #21) > I set them in alphabetical order so there would be no concern for the order > based on celebrity status. A reorder would be best considering the timeline, > but under what criteria should we order them now? Is option 1 under Comment 20 possible? If so, then sticking with alphabetical order should work fine. If not, perhaps alphabetical order by first name is the next best option. Open to other ideas.
I think changing the design, css, and html at this point is too much. my 2 cents. reordering by first name solves the problem and would take < 1 min.
Attached image Portrait of 5th Judge —
Final judge portrait attached.
I would recommend first name sort as well. Added UI also bumps all the bios lower below the fold on the page as well, and since there are only five, it isn't that heavy a scroll page.
(In reply to comment #24) > Created an attachment (id=397700) [details] > Portrait of 5th Judge > > Final judge portrait attached. updated the image, thanks Sean
ok. let's go with first-name sort. also, seems that this bug has scoped beyond the legal page to really all details of the landing page. just so we have clear tracking, I'm changing "legal" to "landing" in the summary.
Summary: project art: create legal page for student.getpersonas.com → project art: create landing page for student.getpersonas.com
reorder done, will show up on stage soon.
(In reply to comment #18) > I added the new judge alan bamberger, except his job title was missing from > comment #16 > > Azehren, could you choose a job title please? Title: Writer, Critic, Appraiser, and Consultant.
> Title: Writer, Critic, Appraiser, and Consultant. added. I think that covers most/all of this bug. Please help me check over the Rules and make sure they are the most recent version at, http://sm-personas01.mozilla.org/student/rules.php Thanks.
Section 4 "Eligibility" - 4th paragraph, last line: "Contest is open only to individuals. Contest is not open to companies, educational institutions, organizations, etc. Students may not enter any work or design that is part of any work done for such institutions and which that institution may claim ownership." Correct typo: should read "... and for which that institution may claim ownership". Add "for" between "and" and "which". Section 7 "How to Enter" & Section 18 "Name of Winner" - when I click on the link, http://www.getpersonas.com/contest, I get a 404 error. Maybe 'cause the site isn't live yet? Though the other links seem to be working. Otherwise looks good.
Section 9: "JUDGING AND SELECTION OF WINNER" -7th pharagraph: "The Finalists will be notified on or about Sept 5, 2009." Correct verbiage should be: "The Finalists will be notified on or about Oct 10, 2009." May have one more change.
Section 9: "JUDGING AND SELECTION OF WINNER" -1st par: "All the Entries will be available on the Persona website from September 22, 2009 through October 6, 2009." Correct verbiage should be: "All the Entries will be available on the Persona website from September 22, 2009 through October 6, 2009." (change 22 to 11)
2 Changes to the "HOW IT WORKS TAB" on the landing page: 1) Sep 11-18 should be changed to "Sept 11-18) The abbreviation for September is Sept. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_abbreviation_of_September 2) The second date "Sep 22 - Oct 6" should be changed to "Sept 11-Oct 6"
Suneel has requested that we add additional language regarding the approval process. See attached redline marked to show additional sentence to the first paragraph of Section 7 "How to Enter".
what's eta to review final rules and site?
I'm working on updating everything in this bug now, should have it done in an hour or two. bug 504226 (the custom upload form) is more complicated, as it's blocked on figuring out a backend issue, bug 513811. I'm hoping to have that wrapped up mid next week.
Can I see review site today for approval?
r51039 brings the page content up to date for this bug, and also fixes some HTML page validation issues. Should be staged soon on, http://sm-personas01.mozilla.org/student/
With r51041, all pages under http://sm-personas01.mozilla.org/en-US/student/ should be valid xhtml 1.0 strict, and a couple CSS issues fixed. I'm working on fixing some of the getpersonas.com links throughout the pages, but I need to figure out how the URL Alias and Rewrite rules work.
Thanks Alex. All the links are working. On the homepage, in the 2nd paragraph, can you move the "(" down so that it is right before (see a tutorial here...) It looks odd alone like it is. Catherine/Suneel, do you have any comments?
Do we support IE 6? (7/8, too?)
Thanks Stephen. The parenthesis is okay in this version.
(In reply to comment #42) > Created an attachment (id=399347) [details] > Screenshot of IE 6 layout > > Do we support IE 6? (7/8, too?) Considering this is for community members, is not intended to drive downloads and Personas only gets about 0.5% IE users, I recommend not bothering with IE 6 and basic support for IE7/8.
The link (www.getpersonas.com/contest) in Section 7 and 18 of the Rules doesn't work.
(In reply to comment #45) > The link (www.getpersonas.com/contest) in Section 7 and 18 of the Rules doesn't > work. Ryan: Is there a bug on file for the rewrite to redirect /contest -> to where it should go?
(In reply to comment #46) > Ryan: Is there a bug on file for the rewrite to redirect /contest -> to where > it should go? Nope.
Few additional comments: # Homepage * The font on the homepage is a bit tiny and hard to read. Not a blocker, but would be good if we could raise the font a point. # How It Works * under Sep 11-18, the word "here" should be hyperlinked * under Sep 11-18, the "follow this easy to use tutorial" should open a separate tab * under Sep 11 - Oct 6, Paragraph 2: Please change the last sentence "Once a day, we count the number of people that have selected and kept your design in their browser for more than 24 hours." to "Once a day, we count the number of people that have selected and kept your design in their browser for more than 24 hours.'the most active daily users (ADUs) at the end of the competition. (October 6)" # Celebrity judges * Can we give the judges more visibility by including their names at the top, hyperlinked to their bios below?
In regards to the bio page, I would say we shouldn't add any design/layout changes at this point.
The following date changes need to be made: # How It Works *Change "Sept. 11-18:" to "Sept 14-25:" *Change "Sept. 11-Oct. 6" to "Sept. 14-Oct. 6" # Rules 6. CONTEST PERIOD "The Contest runs from 5:00 am Pacific Daylight Time (“PDT”) (12:00 pm GMT) September 11, 2009 through 12:01 am September 18, 2009 PDT (7:01 am GMT September 19, 2009). All Entries must be received by Sponsor no later than 12:01 am September 18, 2009 PDT (7:01 am GMT September 19, 2009). Sponsor in its sole discretion may cancel or postpone the Contest." CHANGE TO "The Contest runs from 5:00 am Pacific Daylight Time (“PDT”) (12:00 pm GMT) September 14, 2009 through 12:01 am September 18, 2009 PDT (7:01 am GMT September 25, 2009). All Entries must be received by Sponsor no later than 12:01 am September 25, 2009 PDT (7:01 am GMT September 26, 2009). Sponsor in its sole discretion may cancel or postpone the Contest." 7. HOW TO ENTER (Paragraph 2) "Entries must be submitted online by 12:01 am September 18, 2009 PDT (7:01 am GMT September 19, 2009)." CHANGE TO "Entries must be submitted online by 12:01 am September 25, 2009 PDT (7:01 am GMT September 26, 2009)." 9. JUDGING AND SELECTION OF WINNER "All the Entries will be available on the Personas website from September 11, 2009 through October 6, 2009. On October 9, 2009..." CHANGE TO "All the Entries will be available on the Personas website from September 14, 2009 through October 6, 2009. On October 9, 2009..."
also, the Personas icon (top left of the homepage) should link to getpersonas.com instead of http://sm-personas01.mozilla.org/en-US/
(In reply to comment #46) > (In reply to comment #45) > > The link (www.getpersonas.com/contest) in Section 7 and 18 of the Rules I will fix the /contest link when I have the contest upload form working. Basically the argument is that if users want it open in a new tab, they should know how to do it themselves, and otherwise the normal flow of browsing should be kept by not forcing open new windows/tabs. I'm not sure where I sit on the issue, as I haven't encountered it until now. Ryan, any thoughts on target="_blank"? (In reply to comment #51) > also, the Personas icon (top left of the homepage) should link to > getpersonas.com instead of http://sm-personas01.mozilla.org/en-US/ It's a relative link, so it will point at getpersonas.com/ when the site goes live. (In reply to comment #49) > In regards to the bio page, I would say we shouldn't add any design/layout > changes at this point. I'm with Sean, I don't think we should be changing the design at this point. Date changes from comment #50 done.
Thanks Alex. Looking good. One small change. # Rules 6. I tested out the pages in IE 7/8, they are completely broken and unusable. I'll be spending some time cleaning those up today.
r51426 fixes CSS issues for IE 7/8 r51428 fixes comment #54 I'm holding off on updating the dates for now, until they are set.

I'd like to close this bug out. I've filed bug 517545 to track any updates to Competition dates needed. Any other content or style changes need to any of the student landing pages? If not, I'd say this bug is done. Thanks
I'm for closing this bug.
r24042 updates the rules to allow multiple entries, per IM with Amy. - Only one Entry per individual. + We suggest one entry per individual.
