On the Japanese version of the add-on details page, the localizable string addons_home_browse_updated (“Updated” in en-US) is translated to “最近更新されたアドオン”, which means “the add-on(s) which was/were updated recently.”
It might be tempting to change this to “更新日” (the date of update). However, unfortunately we cannot change the translation of addons_home_browse_updated alone because this string is used also in the top page together with several other localizable strings. Uh-oh.
This only applies to AMO 5.0.7 and not to AMO 5.0.6 because in 5.0.6, this string was not used in the add-on details page.
I can only think of two ways to solve this, and neither seems simple enough to apply hastily. Considering that AMO 5.0.7 is expected to be released today, I do not think that this can be fixed for AMO 5.0.7. Hopefully, this is not a big problem because it is easy to guess that the date written there is the date when the add-on was last updated.
Solution 1:
Change the ja translation of addons_home_browse_updated to “更新日”, and change the ja translations of the related strings (addons_home_browse_new, addons_home_browse_popular and addons_home_browse_recommended) accordingly. My suggestions are:
- addons_home_browse_new
-> 追加日 (the date of addition) or 登録日 (the date of registration)
- addons_home_browse_popular -> 人気 (popular/popularity)
- addons_home_browse_recommended -> おすすめ (recommended/recommendation)
- addons_home_browse_updated -> 更新日 (the date of update)
BUT: According to messages.po, addons_home_browse_recommended is used also in two other places, and I have not checked if this translation is correct there.
Solution 2:
Split addons_home_browse_updated so that it can be translated differently in the top page and in the add-on details page. This will require modifications to the code and to the po files of the other locales, too.
I prefer solution 1 because the repetition of “アドオン” (add-ons) in the four related strings in the top page look redundant anyway. However, I am not sure because I do not know why they are translated as they are now.

I think the addons_home_browse_updated string should not be reused on the add-on details page. It may cause the same problem with other locales.
For Japanese, fcp-san's solution 1 will work out. I just committed the change as r29827 and preview.a.m.o to be updated soon.
Thanks for the report!

In addition, verified that the change of addons_home_browse_recommended did not do harm to the other two places:

* https://preview.addons.mozilla.org/ja/firefox/browse/type:4
Thanks!
