I tried to use Lightning as an Addon to Thunderbird. The functionality is perfect, the biggest problem although is, that Lightning causes Thunderbird to lock up frequently. I searched for this error and tried steps to avoid it: I deactivated all TLS/SSL Connections for my mailboxes...

I even deinstalled all other Addons, but even with just Lightning installed, the lockups happened.

I normally recognize the lockups when I am writing an email. Thunderbird stops reacting, the mouse cursor changes to the circle Vista displays when busy and thunderbird.exe goes to 50% CPU (Dual Core Machine) and stays there for about a minute.

Then I can work again on my email until the next lockup.

This is very annoying, because the functionality would allow me to delete Outlook from my machine...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Write an email or do something other with Thunderbird
Actual Results:
Thunderbird locks up.

Expected Results:
Thunderbird should not lock up.

Bug happens on every machine I and on all Windows OS.. I haven't tried it yet on Linux...
Does it happens when Lightning is loading calendars? Most probably this is a duplicate of bug 387014 that is fixed in current 1.0pre test builds. In addition see meta bug 441710.
Version: unspecified → Lightning 0.9

I don't have any remote calendars. I just have one local calendar.

Do you have a lot of events in your local calendar? Maybe also a lot of recurring events? Does the lockup happen in a fixed interval?

Does this still happen with the latest 1.0b2pre nightlies?
Are you using e.g. IMAP server? By default Thunderbird stores draft messages every 5 minutes. Maybe the lock up could be caused by Thunderbird accessing the server to upload the current message to the Draft folder?

I have this issue with TB 15.01, Lightning v1.7. I just received a confirmation from a calender invite and if I click on the response message, TB locks up and spins up the CPU permanently. Disabling lighting add-on allows me to view the confirmation e-mail.

I'll leave the message in my inbox in case someone wants to debug with my system.
