In order to increase the odds of users finding their way back to the question they just posted in the forum, we could add a transition page that appears after you post, focusing on the different ways the user can keep track of the asked question.
In the attachment, the e-mail section would only appear if the user didn't specify one when submitting the question. Clicking the Submit button should not reload the whole page, but simply change hide the text box and button, and replace the text with e.g. "Thank you. We will notify you on foo@bar.com when someone responds to your question."

I like it, but I think it needs to do a better job of making it clear that their question is being posted in a community forum. Taking the user to a separate page instead of showing them where their question is posted, and using words "we" make it look like a private support system.
I like the idea but I agree with Chris that it's a little deceptive. Why not have it be a notification on the top of the forum thread?

I think this is actually a good UX question for neil: do we have a page (but link to "click here to see your post on our public forum" to make it clear that this is a forum) or do we have this above the actual post?
(I'd vote for above not only because it's immediately clear that the post is submitted but also because users can bookmark the URL in the address bar and use the RSS feed button in the address bar rather than having to use the links presented.)

I really like the demo for this :) Neil should audit it though.

Per phone call with Neil, we should put the post under this notification rather than having that link to proceed to the post.

The wording could also be changed to "Thank you for submitting your question TO THE FORUM." (emphasis added)

I'm confused. Does the wording include the emphasis?
Well not all caps but emphasis. Thank you for submitting your question to the __Firefox Support Forum__.

Neil, can you please offer some suggestions on this?

This is covered as part of the "ask a question" redesign - the last page of that process is the "what to do next" page. Maybe this should be duped?

I don't see the "what to do next" parts in bug 505425. Can you double check?

Partly implemented in the new AAQ form but still needs polish (like using the new pretty forum URLs)
