User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10_4_11; en) AppleWebKit/530.19.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.2 Safari/530.19
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1) Gecko/20090715 Firefox/3.5.1
When going to a different page within a website, Firefox occasionally goes into "work offline" mode in File>work offline. It is checked when I did not check it. It unchecks when I tell it to. This happened in 3.5 and 3.5.1 for Mac with PPC
Reproducible: Sometimes
It's not too much a problem for me, but it could be annoying at times.
I'm having the same problem, but it sounds worse. Goes into "work offline" and drops my connection. I have to reboot computer to get it to find Wifi again.
Macbook OS X
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3
Firefox went into offline mode while I was browsing (I did not click "Work Offline"), and would not come out of offline mode (even when I uncheck work-offline).
More specifically, "work Offline" was checked when Firefox went into offline-mode, however it did not come out of offline mode even when I unchecked the option.
Windows XP.
I can confirm this on Linux, but it only happens since 3.5.4, and 3.5.5 is even worse. It starts offline randomly, goes into offline when clicking certain links.
I get an error in the console:
*** e = [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://browser/content/utilityOverlay.js :: getShellService :: line 312" data: no]
Unchecking offline goes online fine. Clicking the same link again goes into offline again. This means I cannot visit the link for some time. I must make e.g. 10 attempt until it goes through (doesn't set offline). My network connection is fine and stable all the time.

This mostly happens when clicking on links that point to nowhere (like #) but have javascript attached, that opens a new window.
I have also checked this with extensions disabled (safe mode).

Click on any 'rate check' link.

I can't reproduce with that site and Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.3a1pre) Gecko/20091103 Minefield/3.7a1pre (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)

I was checking mail at mail.yahoo.com (the new interactive email, not the one with static links). I was checking email and suddenly the browser went offline and would not come back online again. It happens very frequently... so much so that I had to switch to using IE :(

The problem is, that neither can I. It happens on 1 day constantly, on another day I can't see it. Today I can't reproduce on that site. It often happens when I browse in private browsing mode, then leave it and then it happens. But can you try with 3.5.x branch?

Is there javascript attached to those links, as I observed?

I can also see it in Firefox 3.6.
The message in console is: " *** e = [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://browser/content/utilityOverlay.js :: getShellService :: line 326" data: no]". Notice the line number changed since my previous report from FF3.5.
It also happens at FF startup with blank page, no particular webpage needs to be loaded.
Version: 3.5 Branch → Trunk
