User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.12) Gecko/2009070811 Linux Mint/7 (Gloria) Firefox/3.0.12 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.12) Gecko/2009070811 Linux Mint/7 (Gloria) Firefox/3.0.12 Using linux, decided to test out the latest official version of firefox 3.5.1, as downloadable from the firefox homepage. First impressions was positive, but quickly found out that the passwords been used appear to be very old ones from I believe (purely from memory) the firefox 2.x.x days. Also any new passwords created in firefox 3.0.x do not appear at all under version 3.5.1. I have reverted back to my firefox 3.0.12 version, and all my passwords are back there, upto date and correct again. So it seems to me that firefox 3.5.1 latest official release is I guess obtaining passwords from some file which was used in the firefox 2.x.x days but is ignored or superceeded in firefox 3.5.1. This is quite critical, because it means that version 3.5.1 in my opinion isn't an upgrade option. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Upgrade from 3.0.12 to latest version 3.5.1 2.Go into properties and look at saved passwords 3. Actual Results: Saved passwords out of date - from old Firefox system, or any passwords created in 3.0.x do not appear at all. Expected Results: Should have shown the same passwords as in version 3.0.12

Just found out by reading up on this bug elsewhere that you need to do the following to fix it: 1) Shutdown Firefox 3.5.1 2) Go to your profile folder or folders. 3) Rename the file signons.sqlite to something else, like signons.sqlite.old in each profile folder. 4) Restart Firefox 3.5.1 5) Check passwords, and they should be the same as 3.0.12 again. Worked for myself.
Yeah, i don't think this is a Firefox issue, but merely a corrupt profile.

Nope it is a Firefox issue/bug - as mentioned, passwords were fine in version 3.0.12 using the same profile, and only had problems when upgrading to version 3.5.1. It would potentially happen to anyone who had a old formatted signons.sqlite based from the firefox version 2.x.x days. Needs resolving, not a profile issue.
It's easy to fix when you known how, but not everyone would know to remove or rename that file so it got rebuilt when next logging in, nor should they need too. At a bare min. it should be sorted out when a user uses firefox 3.5.1 for the first time - it ought to auto detected that the signons.sqlite file needs auto rebuilding.
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode or a fresh profile? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing. http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles
