It looks like the 3.5.1 first run page is serving up the wrong content...it should be showing the version with the thank you video (but without the Firefox 3.5 wordmark in the headline), but currently isn't.

Steven, can you (or someone else from silverorange - I know you're going out of town) check this one out on Monday? Would be great to get it fixed soon...especially before 3.5.2 comes out.

For more details, here's a report from pkim:

just updated my dad's firefox to 3.5 from 3.0. on restart, the "whatsnew" page was displayed, but it didn't show the video, just a standard security update message.
http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.5.1/whatsnew/

this is probably OK for 3.5.1 but for the major update, when we update the big chunk of existing 3.0 users, we should be showing some variant of this page:
http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.5/whatsnew/
fwiw, beltzner did this intentionally for 3.5 users upgrading to 3.5.1. We really should change the page that users get shown after a major update and have a specific page for major updates. Not for 3.5.2, of course, but maybe 3.6?
Agreed that there are ways we can make this flow better for 3.6...for now, Beltzner and I talked it over and here's what we decided:

- for the 3.5.2/whatsnew, serve up a page that has the top content from http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.5.1/whatsnew/, and the bottom content (the row of promos starting with the video) http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.5/whatsnew/

- for 3.5.3./whatsnew, create a page more like http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.5.1/whatsnew/, but possibly with slightly different promo content at the bottom (to incorporate a link to view the video on another page, for example) - will file a separate bug for that, though

The catch is that we need to do this as soon as possible to allow for any l10n considerations before 3.5.2. Steven, I'll check in tomorrow morning to make sure everything is clear.

The above proposal sounds good, but I don't think we should do this for 3.5.2 since it's going to ship in about a week and that won't give l10n enough time to localize the new page.
There won't be any new text strings in this version of the page, just a very slight reformatting of existing elements.

It's important that we have the right content in place for people coming in from the major update. So, we do need to make this change for 3.5.2.
The 3.5.2 pages are setup in trunk in r30465.
I can hybrid 3.0 title and 3.5 content for this new 3.5.2 page and actually prepare the 3.5.2 release tomorrow instead of end of week. I should have the pages done for about 60 locales tomorrow night, for locales that didn't get a 3.0 release, I will file a bug. Those may not all be ready for next week and will ship with the current 3.5 title and sub-title.
Steven & Pascal - thanks for the quick work on this. As far as I can tell, the page content is in good shape for 3.5.2, so I'm going to resolve this bug as fixed.

Mike, let me know if you need anything else on the 3.5.2 stuff.

60 locales updated in r48025, I will file a l10n bug for the 14 remaining locales.
