It's very hard (impossible?) to highlight strings that contain both RTL and LTR text. As with the text in https://litmus.mozilla.org/show_test.cgi?id=6831:
الاسلام (The Islam)
Starting from the left side, highlighting on the RTL text is lost when once you reach the LTR text.
Starting from the right side, highlighting of the entire string is possible as long as you stop the cursor just between the RTL and LTR phrases.
I'm sure the highlighting directions are as designed. However, it would be nice if it was easier to highlight combination text.

You may find it easier if you set bidi.edit.caret_movement_style to 1 in about:config
