Many people do not see the Menu bar at all (because the eyes focus naturally where you type!)
So, providing a Menu bar at the bottom of the UI would, I am sure, help a lot :-)
It could be a preference just like the userlist on the right or left! (Having it at the bottom by default would help newbies, I am sure).

by using this plugin to change the menubar position there is a menu option at
Menu > View > Show Menu At Bottom
