User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090624 Firefox/3.5
Build Identifier: 3.5.2 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090624 Firefox/3.5

3.5.2 won't start. 3.5 will. I re-downloaded 3.5.2 and reinstalled, rebooted, process and prog won't start. 3.5 works as it should after reinstall with no reboot.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install 3.5.2 and reboot, or don't. Either way.
2. Start program by double-clicking desktop icon, using the start menu icon, OR navigating to program files and double-clicking the actual executable.
3. Nothing happens.
Actual Results:
Here's what happens:

Nothing.

Expected Results:
Should have started.

Did this auto-update or something? I don't recall updating to 3.5.2 - but that's what happened. I tried a manual update. Rolling back to 3.5 then updating manually. Nothing worked. Then just went back to 3.5 and things are working fine. Never had a problem before.
can you click on firefox safe mode and try to start that way?

I just had the same problem as helenstergius above. Very nasty :(

Today, Firefox 3.5.1 automatically updated to 3.5.2. Afterwards the firefox.exe would NOT start by any means! (full install, rebooting, clicking, command prompt,...) Especially there also wasn't a way to start in safe-mode or things alike.

The problem could only be solved by manually downloading "Firefox Setup 3.5.1.exe" and installing this over the existing 3.5.2 version. Now everything is fine, but I WON'T update to 3.5.2 again!

Sorry, I forgot to mention: I use the german language version of Firefox (3.5.1 and 3.5.2)
@migucocojixohure, just curious, if you update all your plugins (for example, adobe reader to 9.1.3, jave to 6 update 15, flash to 10.0.32.18, shockwave to ll.5.1.601, and then create a new profile, with no addons, then update to Firefox 3.5.2, does it start? Your old profile will still be saved.

@ Tyler:

I could try this. Is there an easy way to update my plugin in Firefox 3.5.1? I don't find a "search for update" button for the plugins in Firefox :(

I did some further testing with my non-starting Firefox 3.5.2:

1. @ Tyler: Sorry, I didn't try to update all my Firefox plugins.
2. What I did try instead is disabeling ALL Firefox plugins and ALL
Firefox addons (by pressing the "disable" button pretty often
   in the add-on manager)
--> This does NOT solve the problem.
For me this means: it's not an add-on/plugin related problem
3. I also started my WinXP in "protected mode"
(using F8 during startup of computer)
--> This DOES help!!! In this Windows mode Firefox 3.5.2 starts properly
   on my computer.
--> Restarting the computer in "normal" mode afterwards
      --> Firefox won't start any more :(
4. Starting Windows in normal mode and disabeling every possible
"service" via the "system settings" / "computer manager" /
"service manager tool" does not help :(

So the Firefox 3.5.2 seems to have some kind of problem with my Windows or some installed Windows driver or program. Here is where my capabilities in testing end.

This looks like a SERIOUS problem of Firefox 3.5.2 to me. Yesterday night (probably only some hours after the update became available) I have already found a couple of forum entries for this nasty 3.5.2. malbehavior...

Same issue on my PC. One of them upgraded fine, one did not. Firefox.exe won't even come up in processes. Uninstall/Reinstall did not work. I will upload a capture from Filemon showing what mine is doing. Not sure what the fix is, but I will be downgrading if that works.
