Not a security-sensitive bug.

What version of Firefox are you currently running, and where did you get it?
Group: core-security
Component: Installer → General
QA Contact: installer → general
I don't recognize that hat icon at all, and Firefox no longer has a EULA-type license screen, just "about:rights". I do see license-showing code still exists in the updater but not sure what would be triggering it.

You were/are using 3.5.1 and are trying to upgrade to 3.5.2? Or is this a different copy/machine where you're upgrading from 3.0.12 to 3.5.1 ?

By "reinstall Firefox" do you mean reinstalling from your old downloaded installer, or did you go to http://www.mozilla.com to install a new copy? I'd be somewhat disturbed if the fresh installer was getting this kind of update screen.

You've also got some "AutoPager" thing that's sticking advertisement into the user-agent you send with every server request -- could that require a license? Looks like a regular add-on so it shouldn't interfere with the update process.(You've also got Microsoft's .NET cruft added, which is annoying but hasn't caused this kind of trouble.)

That does appear to be our string:

Version 3.5.2
downloaded from the mozilla.com
When I heard of the update, I clicked on
Help>Check for updates
Then followed the screens to only be stuck in this loop of update/reinstall Firefox.
I haven't heard of anyone having this problem, but maybe the http://support.mozilla.com people have.

You could try "safe mode", which will temporarily disable your addons -- if that works then we can look into what you might have installed.
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
Or you could just go to http://www.mozilla.com/ and download a fresh copy of
3.5.2 and bypass the updater entirely while you wait for us to figure it out.

Downloading a fresh copy of 3.5.2 worked. thanks!
Cheng: did you get other reports of this at the support site? If so maybe we should leave the bug open to figure it out, otherwise maybe it's "WFM".

See also Thunderbird bug 466187 comment 9.
The displaying of the license page is the symptom and the root cause can be several different things. If people experience this they should file individual bugs so the root cause can be tracked down.
You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
