This also happens when I try to download a bittorrent file. I tried re-installing firefox twice, no change. I'm a big fan of firefox but I'm getting to a situation where I'm obligated to use explorer because I have no choice. If you could help it would be appreciated because I would rather use firefox. Can you please create a new profile, and try that way? http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles Also, are you using the downloads in a tab addons? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4526 If so, please disable it and try that way.

Please open about:config, confirm the warning, enter "scan" in the top filter bar and change browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone to false. Does it solve the issue ?
