Shift_JIS 814F character "^" is displayed wrong character. Steps of reproduce 1. From browser, go to above URL 814F is displayed as the wrong character. 2. From Composer, with kotoeri (Japanese IME) Type "^" (at the capitol key of 6). It is displayed the wrong character. This character is displayed fine in Communicator 4.7. Tested 2000-08-31-08 Mac build. This does not happen in Linux and Win32 build.
I know what is going on here. The particular character of OSAKA font at 16 points size is displayed wrongly under MacOS. This is not Mozilla bug. You can see it happen in any application that can set the font size to 16 point. It is either MacOS or Osaka font bug.
Summary: SJIS 814F character is displayed wrong character → SJIS 814F character is displayed wrong character
I thought this was our mapping error, too. Thanks, hirata-san. Iw as able to find a few editors which let you set the font size to 16pt, and yes the problem then appears. Mozilla uses pixels and so I thought the default size, 16px, would be OK but whenever I set it to 16px, it has this problem. I guess Osaka fonts don't scale correctly to 16px in this case.
