Either don't allow to add future visits, or add a preventive maintenance task to cleanup them (or both)

Just noticed this a couple of days ago. If I am to click on the "History" menu in the menu bar, it seems to be always stuck on the same sites, even if I haven't even visited them at that day. Granted, they are visited pretty much every day, but in my experience with this menu it shows your LATEST visited sites, I have been on many other sites since these but it still remains.
I think I can isolate what is causing this problem. Too much history. I do not delete my browsing history and have 40,000+ sites dating back to May, so it could be a problem with Firefox's handling of this much history. Am I wrong? I do not wish to delete it but even if I do I feel this is a bug that needs reporting and maybe could be fixed without me having to delete my history.
But of course, if you need me to I will.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on the "History" menu
2. Look at how the sites are the exact same.
3. Because slightly annoyed as sometimes I end up closing Firefox and realize I want to go to a site I just visited but it's nowhere to be found : - (
Actual Results:
All of the items in the "History" menu are the same. Always.
Expected Results:
It should have shown the latest sites I have visited, in descending order. (Newest to oldest).
Will be checking this out, but I still think it has nothing to do with it. I am using my own modified version of the "Foxkeh" theme. It is only compatible with Firefox 3.0 but I hacked it a bit so it will look fine on 3.5.
Apart from that I have Adblock Plus which I have always had so I believe it is not that. I do not use any other privacy software which could interfere with History.

to be sure it's not due to theme or add-ons, you can try safe mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode

I have tried Safe mode, same results.
I had 'Remember browsing history for at least (days)) set to 9999, so I thought that would be the problem and set it back to 90 but it still gave the same result.

that's quite strange, could be a corruption in the profile. could you compress your places.sqlite file and send it to me by mail, it contains your bookmarks and history, so don't attach it here for privacy reasons.

Done and done, as emailed
I tried just removing my places.sqlite from my profile directory and now history is saved fine. The file was 20MB or so, so I am thinking there is corruption in there or Firefox is having a problem handling a file that large with so many items.
Best of luck

have you ever moved the clock of your pc to a future time?

i'm saying so because i'm seeing that some timestamp in your db was set to today 01 sep 2009, so could be you've done some testing on that pc involving setting the date in future?

i guess if we should add a preventive maintenance task to remove eventual visits in the future when they exist and if that's the case.

I have set the time ahead before, most likely as an accident as I have set it back and then when I went to set it proper I choose the wrong day or month or something.

i'm confirming because effectively if this happens (for test purposes i sometimes move the date in the future), and if you navigate in future your history menu is practically locked till then.
