If I simply go to this webpage with Firefox :
http://panissieres.blog.lemonde.fr/
Firefox becomes really slow and eats *hundreds* of RAM (to be exact, it eats all the 1GB of my computer RAM)
RAM usage goes up and down several times, then tie at a high usage. You can monitor the task manager during loading of webpage.
tried with Firefox in Safe Mode, same problem
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. open http://panissieres.blog.lemonde.fr/
2. cry
Actual Results:
1. Firefox is considerably slowed
2. All RAM is eaten, so the whole computer is considerably slowed
Expected Results:
Firefox should have less memory leaks, I presume you've already known :)
one correction :
in fact RAM usage goes up and down simply because Windows swaps memory several times.
yes, I have 1GB RAM, no other application running, no other webpage opened, and Firefox fills more than this GB only with this specific webpage

>Firefox should have less memory leaks
Why do you think that there is a memory leak, i can not see a memory leak at all.
I tested with FF3.5.2 and the page hits over 500MB during the load but that is no surprise with the big jpeg images with 1MB+ for each image.
The uncompressed size for such an image is much higher and IE7 is using the same memory.
You could get higher values during loading if you changed the number of the allowed TCP/UP connections for each server (more images at the same time are loading).
I can't see a problem at all, the used memory is caused by the images on the page.
not much to do on Firefox's side
but I should blame the author of this blog, each time I open it, my computer slows down and so I know and I say myself "ah, I opened another time that damn blog", and I close it as soon as my computer let me do it
how many readers has he lost only because of this technical fail?
