User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2 GTB5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2 GTB5 I just downloaded the newest version of Firefox. When I log on, I get a phantom Yahoo toolbar at the top of the screen. It says: (yahoo logo) "Search web for %s Email this%t IM this%t Translate to English Lookup %s in Dictionary" along with the Yahoo icons for each. This will eventually cause Firefox to stop responding and freeze completely. I had to unplug my computer and restart it to get Windows to shut Firefox down. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Just log on and it's there 2. Tried closing and reopening Firefox 3. Tried uninstalling and re-installing Firefox 4. Did a complete scan of my computer for viruses and trojans, etc. and it came up clean. I use AVG and Zone Alarm. Also cleaned with CC Cleaner and Spybot. Actual Results: Nothing worked to correct the problem. The phantom toolbar is still there. Expected Results: Well the phantom toolbar shouldn't be there.
If you go to Tools, Addoins, do you see Yahoo Toolbar in the extensions list?
Yes. It's not the real Yahoo Toolbar, however, that's at the top of my screen. I DO have the Yahoo Toolbar. This is some sort programmer-speak I guess at the very top of my screen above the Status Bar. Again, this line of info says: "Search web for %s" "Email this%t" "IM this%t" "Translate to English" "Lookup %s in Dictionary" in a line across the very top of my screen. It's preceded by the Yahoo! logo. It doesn't come up all the time, but whenever it does, the Firefox program stops working and I have to try and close out Firefox by ending the program and then restarting Firefox.
I've attached a photo of what my screen looks like when this bug appears. As you can hopefully see, it's some sort of toolbar bug that picks up on the Yahoo Tool bar.
You could have taken a screenshot, but that is ok. If you create a new profile, and install the latest yahoo toolbar. Also, in your current profile, please uninstall the yahoo toolbar and see if it goes away.
