After adding an acceleration scroll model to the Windows builds of Firefox (Bug 462809) a lot of users started to report that they were experiencing double acceleration, since their mouse driver was already providing its own acceleration model. In an effort to detect if an acceleration model is already in place (bug 509651), we need to look at the events being reported by a wide variety of mice (and mouse drivers) currently on the market. I'll be putting together a list of mice I think we should start out with testing, along with links to CDW for IT to purchase them. Currently I already have these: Microsoft Intellimouse optical Microsoft wheel mouse optical Microsoft Bluetooth notebook mouse 5000 Logitech M-UAE96 Apple mightmouse After we have figured out everything we need to know about mouse events on Windows to resolve bug 509651 we should probably turn the inventory over to QA in case anyone else needs access to a variety of mice.

Here is a list of popular mice currently on the market, with the mice above and similar mice filtered out (while the links are from CDW, I'm basing this on the sales rank at amazon.com) Same inventory as a spreadsheet with type and rank: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tf7-Ncrbk2gr6uZ4Y2gFu6g&output=html ==Common== Logitech VX Nano Wireless Laser Mouse http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1279069 Logitech MX Revolution Wireless Mouse http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1009097 Logitech G5 Laser Mouse for Gaming http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1202509 Logitech Notebook Optical Mouse Plus http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=595352 Logitech Trackman Marble - trackball http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1720829 Kensington Ergonomic Expert Mouse http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=499935 Microsoft 69K-00001 Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1138417 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator 3D motion controller http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1098858 Kensington Orbit Optical Trackball http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=449993 ==Uncommon== Additionally these three caught attention for their obscurity and novelty (although some are not available through CDW) Logitech MX Air Rechargeable Wireless Air Mouse http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1275860 USB Optical Finger Mouse http://www.amazon.com/HDE-USB-Optical-Finger-Mouse/dp/B000UVD8B2/ref=sr_1_77?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1250556941&sr=1-77 Razer Mamba Wireless Gaming Laser Mouse 5600 DPI http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Mamba-Wireless-Gaming-Laser/dp/B001WAKR3W/ref=sr_1_31?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1250557088&sr=1-31 I-Pen Digital Pen Writer Ipen Optical USB Mouse Input Device http://www.amazon.com/I-Pen-Digital-Writer-Optical-Device/dp/B0000AC88K/ref=sr_1_40?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1250557088&sr=1-40

Note that I updated the spreadsheet to mark a few more mice that we have access to around the office: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tf7-Ncrbk2gr6uZ4Y2gFu6g&output=html

Dropped yet more of these off at your desk. Can you go through what's been deployed and let me know what, if anything, you're still waiting on?
