I selected UI-design for component because bug 382187, which is probably what caused this either directly or indirectly, was assigned to UI-design, while there is no Places or History component to select after selecting SeaMonkey product. I discovered this upon opening Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.9.1.3pre) Gecko/20090819 SeaMonkey/2.0b2pre for the first time. I don't remember it happening in Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.9.1.3pre) Gecko/20090803 SeaMonkey/2.0b2pre, and it doesn't happen in 1.1.17 on OS/2.
To reproduce:
1-open browser window
2-deselect "Switch to new tabs opened from links" in preferences
3-open history window
4-select a history entry
5-right click the selected entry to open the context menu
6-select "Open Link in New Tab"
Actual behavior:
1-selected item opens in new tab
2-focus moves from history window to the newly opened tab in browser window
Expected behavior:
1-selected item opens in new tab
2-focus remains in history window
Comments:
1-I'm told in irc://moznet/seamonkey that the current behavior is a desirable global behavior because "almost everyone now calls the same function". If that is the case, then there should be an option to have the old behavior. Chatzilla provides an option that I believe is equivalent (which I always deselect) "Focus browser when opening new links".
2-I routinely on reopening the browser want to in quick succession fetch many links from history in new tabs . The current/new behavior for this use case is quite cumbersome through radically increased required mouse/trackball motion, particularly for us old folks with arthritis and/or those with two button mice/trackballs.

The behavior I see on my installations is sligtly different: the new tab is opened and focus moves to the browser window, but the tab itself is _not_ focused, the tab visible before is still the one visible afterwards.
I see this on OS/2 and Linux --> All/All.
OS: OS/2 → All
Hardware: Other → All
