Currently, all our NSS QA tests rely on LD_LIBRARY_PATH or platform equivalent to locate NSS libraries. This is not a real-world case.
Many programs use an RPATH instead. Some will use an RPATH against a fixed system location (see bug 512017), but others can also be built with a relative RPATH in the executable to help locate the NSS library. This kind of test can be built and run on all Unix platforms.
