Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Navigate to several sites. Actual Results: Ad pops up Expected Results: Ad should not appear.
Ad comes from Gamevance claiming: This advertisement was served by Gamevance.com (GV) casual gaming network in accordance with your membership. GV is an ad supported community; the GV ads you receive support the free games and daily prizes we provide. GV displays an average of only four ads per day while browsing online. If you would like to deactivate or uninstall your account and stop receiving ads you can do so anytime by clicking here. I never had a membership, and clicking here does nothing. I don't see any add- that would seem to cause this.
Judging from comment 1, this is the same as the issue in bug 495701. From that bug: ------- Comment #1 From Daniel Veditz 2009-05-31 13:38:33 PDT ------- Gamevance is adware bundled with free software you or a teenager in your home downloaded (usually games in this case). You can remove it, but note that you (or the teenager) may have "agreed" to run this by clicking on a License that says you can't run the whatever-it-was you downloaded without it. Because technically you've "agreed" to run this A-V vendors are sometimes squeamish about calling this badware, they don't want to get sued. Software that is specifically about rooting out adware/spyware is often more aggressive in finding these things. Also note that some of these adware system have long had an Internet Explorer hook and only recently started adding Firefox code, so some of the scanners don't yet find the Firefox part. Gamevance's uninstall instructions: http://www.gamevance.com/deactivate.php If you don't trust them to uninstall themselves some anti-spyware vendors have their own instructions and tools, for example: http://www.antispyware.com/glossary_details.php?ID=133821
