Steps to Reproduce:
Hello, I am french so I try to speak English, but excuse me for my bad language.

During 2 week, I have differente problem with Thunderbird.
Note I trying to update and install last version.
- First : The short key Ctrl+maj+T who I use too check all my account (13) don't run. The link in menu don't work too.
The short key Ctrl+T work correctly
The link and short key don't run too in safe mode
- Second problem : 
All account don't be check when thunderbird is open ... When I click on different account, there is a message in back page who sayed "message chargement ..." and nothing passed over...
The problème appeared after then first open, I don't see really when thunderbird turn on bug ...

- Third : When I closed Thuderbird for reopen, page close but not application. When I go to "program management", thunderbird is allready running !!!
I can end the process but actually, I must make that to close and open thunderbird.

I don't have any crash message

I can use thunderbird but I must check manually all account.
I have problem to close and restart application (resolved)
I must frequently close-open application to open messages

Expected Results:  
I find a solution about closing application with unactivate all add-on and re-active it on by on !!! all my add-on in additional Information

Can you check if your point 3. is a dupe of bug #496722?


Another question: could you try in safe-mode and report here if point 1., 2. and 3. are still present?

Sorry but I don't understand what means this 2 lines ...

I read this report but my problem is not with network, at launch, I not my yahoo account where check but not the other account(free, gmail, orange) ...
Since my first comment, I see new message arrived during a few time but not after the scratch off thunderbird. Now Thnderbird stay open and I can navigate in my tree of account, but it is impossible to read on off message, when I select on of this, nothing's pass ???, I try to make a double click with no succes too.

I try again with safe mode but my problem is still present (sniff)

I put in zip fill 2 print screen of my problems
- report 1 for navigation but not open message
I select another message in another account but you can see you response in back !!!
- report 2 for problems when I close thunderbird.
Thunderbird icon disparate off status bar but still present in file manager (I select it)

- Note I made this 2 print screen in safe mode !!!
More information, I don't installed any programs or printer thince many time.
I used Thunderbird on this computer this 2 year without problem untill now.
I work on Windows XP platform and not on Unix ...

I had tryed to find more explication of my differente bug.
I look TB fixed after 10 minutes of normal using.
I make test with no add-on and with no check message ... TB make the same problem ...
Is that help you ?

New information I see Yesterday :
I open TB with out internet connexion and it run perfectly ... But without connexion !!! I think so the problem com from checking message

I find bug #496722 but I don't see any correspondance with my problem ... Perhaps of my bad english !!! ... Sorry

I active again all my add-on and talkback send for 3 time crash bug but I don't know where ...

Is it an action I can do for give you a report of my TB for help you ... and me !!!

@ Aurelio: This bug is reported against Thunderbird 2.0, so even if it's wfm (works for me) on current nightlies (developers are working on and testing with version 3.x), the bug may still occur in 2.x.

1) wfm on Version 2.0.0.23 (20090812)
Do you have other applications that might use Ctrl+Shift+T shortcut?

2) For every account, check if the following settings are set:
Tools > Accounts > YourAccount > Server Settings >
(x) Check for new messages at start-up
(x) Every [10] minutes, check for new messages
(x) Download new messages automatically (check this one especially)

3) Make sure that you close ALL Thunderbird windows, including download manager window, possibly draft message windows, standalone message windows etc. (no Thunderbird buttons left in the task bar). Thunderbird might need some seconds to unload from memory, especially because you have a lot of accounts. Wait 30 secs before you check if Thunderbird process is still in Task manager.

I see your comment but I make many test for find the problem (bad result ...)

1)Do you have other applications that might use Ctrl+Shift+T shortcut?
I made recherche and I find google chrome use this chortcut so I trye to uninstalled it without succces.

2) For every account, check if the following settings are set:
Tools > Accounts > YourAccount > Server Settings >
I check all my account as you sayed but nothing more ...

3)
I made test with waiting a long time (1 hour) with thunderbird close but not in task manager but TB stayed in ...

Information : 
As I said in start of my comment, I made many test.
I think my problem is located in general configuration.
With mozbackup I made a backup and trye to install only message, only configuration etc... and it is when I install general configuration that TB get out.

I tryed another test with created a new profil. with to of my account (gmail and yahoo) and I send message between to account. That run correctly during long time... I don't have bug from my two account.
I passed to next step with link old file with new account and that run too (I'm happy !!!)
I don't find time to add other account (many work !!!) but I think it is a good solution ...
I add too all my add-on and theme in succes !!!!

Do you want I give you my backup of general parameter ?

Thanks Bernard for reporting back with some details. I currently don't have an idea what the cause of your bug could be, and I don't know enough about general configuration, so it won't help if you send it to me. But given the fact that things seem to work with your new profile, there's some evidence that your old profile is corrupted for some reason. Since we can't reproduce the bug, it's a worksforme (wfm) candidate.

if I understand the issue described, this was a hang, not a crash. adjusting summary
