512234 - Missing bookmarks

Immediately after installing Firefox 3.5.2, many of my bookmarks are no longer available.  I NEED these bookmarks.  Fixing the problem will be of no help to me unless I can retrieve them.  Re-booting was no help.

Firefox automatically and periodically backs up your bookmarks.  See the
Restoring bookmark backups section at
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Lost+Bookmarks for help on restoring them.

Can you type about:config into the location bar, click OK, type
browser.places.importBookmarksHTML into the filter box, and report the value?

Ideally, if the pref was true the bookmarks were imported and he pref flipped back to false, to it would not say much...
but it's most likely the cause, 3.0 fails to correctly flip back the pref sometimes causing further upgrades to import bookmarks from the old bookmarks.html.
