User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2 Since upgrade to version 3, most (about 7 out of 10) bookmark icons are no longer there, replaced by generic icons. Reproducible: Always
upgrading from which version? 3.0.x or 2.0.0.x? what happens if you visit the bookmark, does the icon reappear? Do you see any error in the error console just after startup?
Now I have v.3.5.2 and had several upgrades since the first switch from v.2. Can I check somewhere (log?) when Firefox upgraded and from and to which versions? Firefox does this automatically. Some icons reappear, some don't, even though these non-reappearing icons do show left of the URL window (I have no clue how to call this "window": I hope you understand. No errors in the error console after start-up Hope I expressed myself clear enough.
sounds like you could have some kind of corruption in the db, could you send me your places.sqlite file by mail? you can find it in the profile folder, please compress it before sending. Don't attach it on the web or to the bug, since it contains all of your history and bookmarks, so it's privacy-sensitive.
where do i find this profile folder?
Marco, I sent this profile 16 days ago.........now what? Robert
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.10 or later in safe mode or a fresh profile? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing. http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles

Thanks for coming back to me after 14 months. I sent the requested details but never heard back, until now. I checked, but the problem is still the same. In fact, it's gotten worse with hardly any favicons appearing in the menus. I decided to switch back to Safari which deosn't have this problem.

ok, no reason to keep this open then. Creating a new profile is most likely the only solution here.
