Since I upgraded to the latest version of Firefox 2 days ago, the performance of all my other applications on my PC have tanked, such as Microsoft Outlook and Rational developer tools. The task manager indicates that the firefox.exe process is using anywhere from 45 - 100% CPU at any given time, regardless of the websites I'm browsing, or how many. I never had this issue with Firefox before, and this is the only recent upgrade or install I've had on my machine. Please advise, since I would like to continue to use Firefox and not IE! Thanks!
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch Firefox, launch any URL.
2. Check task manager. CPU utilization rises very quickly and hovers between 40 - 100%, causing all other open apps to slow down.
3.

Please try safe-mode to exclude extension problems:

Or a new profile:

If the problem persists, try reinstalling Firefox in a different folder.
