The threadpane does not seem to be updating to reflect changes to the list of messages, either when new messages are received or when messages are deleted. This is with imap folders. (The problem doesn't arise with local folders.) To reproduce (new messages not being shown): 1) Have some messages added to a folder (for me, this is when new mail gets filtered to another folder) 2) Open the folder. Expected: The new messages should appear in the threadpane Actual: The threadpane contains the list of messages present when the folder was last opened. If you then switch to another folder and then back, the new messages do appear. To reproduce (not updating with deleted messages): 1) Delete a message Expected: The message should be removed from the threadpane (my prefs are to move deleted messages to trash) Actual: The selected message moves to the next message, but the deleted message remains in the threadpane (and can be selected). As previously, if you switch to another folder and back, the threadpane state is as it should be. I'm using Linux build 2000090508.
I can confirm this on Windows 2000. Furthermore: 1) When you try to change back to the folder that has received new messages, you get an hourglass, and the mail/news thread just hangs. You need to close down mail/news and reopen it to be able to read new messages. 2) When you do re-open mail news and read one of your new messages, it doesn't visibly change state to "read" once you've opened it. You need to close mail/news AGAIN and reopen it in order to see the correct state. The "workaround" required in this case is so severe that I consider this to be a dogfood bug, and I am hanging back at build 2000083111 until this one gets fixed. Adding keyword "dogfood", and changing platforms to All.

Isn't this a smoke-test blocker anyways? (The part about receive imap messages)
david, do you think this is related to the tree widget selection bugs from this weekend too?
Additional note - this problem also seems to appear with newsgroups as well.
yes, that's how I initially saw the problem - I'll check my workaround in for now until the tree control can get fixed.

Umm, are you sure that this isn't a duplicate of bug 48466? (not bug 51313)
Yes, I'm sure. Not that it matters.
