Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.1) Gecko/20090715 Thunderbird/3.0b3

I receive a number of emails that are improperly timestamped in the future, so I am forced to order my mail not by "Date" but by "Received", whose date is always correct. Otherwise, I have a number of mail that perpetually sit at the top of my message list.

However, it appears the "Received" field in Thunderbird 3b3 (the only version I have tested) reads directly from the Date field and ignores the Recieved date information. ie. mail that is timestamped in the future remains sitting at the top of the message field, reporting a future date.

Below is an example mail header. I received the mail at 10.54am in the morning of Sept 3, and my timezone is +12 (NZST). Thus, going only the Date field, this mail was sent 12 hours in the future (the person who sent it apparently hasd their timezone wrong). But, if Thunderbird were to organise it by the Recieved info, it would recognise that I had indeed received it at 15:54pm -0700 Sept 2, or 10:54am +1200 Sept 3.
