Using today's verification build on Win98:

Compose a message.
Send.
Observed: message compose window closes, but nothing is sent or copied to sent
folder
Expected: mail sent and copied to Sent mail folder.

Possibly related:
SMTP pane in account settings is blank, can't see any controls or settings.
smtp prefs in prefs.js look correct.

*yuck*. I hope this isn't a win98 specific problem. I'm not seeing it on todays
winNT commercial build.

Peter, if you have a few minutes, can you set the following two environment
variables on your computer then re-run, try to send a message and attach the log
file we generate?

setenv NSPR_LOG_FILE=c:\temp\nspr.log
setenv NSPR_LOG_MODULES=SMTP:5

First log looked like it was trying to use TLS again, but that log disappeared
before I could attach it.  In any case, changing the auth_method pref to 2 got
SMTP to work, don't know how that got reset again.  What keeps happening here?

Odd note: we seem to leave something loaded across the restart (Close Program
dialog still lists Netscape6), and when that happens I can launch and read my
IMAP mail without logging in again (I don't save passwords).  Is that a known
security hole?

Five months without reproducing is enough.  The SMTP SSL and AUTH code has been 
changed substantially.  Closing WORKSFORME.
