Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Thunderbird on Space 1, 2. Compose new e-mail 3. Open Finder on Space 2 4. Pick up a file, drag & drop it to Thunderbird in the Dock, 5. Drag the file to the compose window, 6. Drop it there 7. Notice how the attachment didn't get added Tried to clarify in a Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHWnR7ub1vc Actual Results: The attachment did not get added. Expected Results: The attachment should get added.
Dan can you check tools Error console to see if there are any message when you do that ? can you also see if nothing is shown in /Applications/Utilities/Console.app ?
Gary do you use spaces ?
The Error console shows no messages; (it does print an error the first time I create a new message after starting Shredder): Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004003 (NS_ERROR_INVALID_POINTER) [nsIEditorStyleSheets.addOverrideStyleSheet]" nsresult: "0x80004003 (NS_ERROR_INVALID_POINTER)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://messenger/content/messengercompose/MsgComposeCommands.js :: anonymous :: line 1627" data: no] but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. The Console.app doesn't print an error in the actual reproduction. I did notice a few errors popping up around the time I was trying, but I have no clue whether they have anything to do with it. 9/8/09 6:18:28 PM CoreServicesUIAgent[49270] kCGErrorIllegalArgument: CGSUnionRegionWithRect : Invalid region 9/8/09 6:18:28 PM CoreServicesUIAgent[49270] kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint @ CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch errors as they are logged. 9/8/09 6:18:28 PM com.apple.coreservices.uiagent[49270] Tue Sep 8 18:18:28 dyn343.win.tue.nl CoreServicesUIAgent[49270] <Error>: kCGErrorIllegalArgument: CGSUnionRegionWithRect : Invalid region 9/8/09 6:18:28 PM com.apple.coreservices.uiagent[49270] Tue Sep 8 18:18:28 dyn343.win.tue.nl CoreServicesUIAgent[49270] <Error>: kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint @ CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch errors as they are logged. 9/8/09 6:18:28 PM com.apple.coreservices.uiagent[49270] Tue Sep 8 18:18:28 dyn343.win.tue.nl CoreServicesUIAgent[49270] <Error>: kCGErrorIllegalArgument: CGSGetRegionBounds : Invalid region 9/8/09 6:18:28 PM CoreServicesUIAgent[49270] kCGErrorIllegalArgument: CGSGetRegionBounds : Invalid region
I've been trying to reproduce so I've enabled spaces. And I tried to do the same thing as you do on the video. Unfortunately, when I drag a document to the Thunderbird icon the icon doesn't blnk and I don't get back to the space where Thunderbird is running.
This is... strange. I've tried turning off and on the only option for Spaces ("when switching to an application, switch to a Space with open windows"), but in both cases I can drag and drop files. You do run Snow Leopard? You can drag and drop onto other applications? You do hold the mouse button all the time? (In the video, I'm holding the mouse button from 0:02 to 0:09)?

No > You can drag and drop onto other applications? Yes I can for Itunes. > You do hold the mouse button all the time? (In the video, I'm holding the mouse > button from 0:02 to 0:09)? Well, I do until I don't see the icon bliking then I release and nothing more happens.
> > You do run Snow Leopard? > > No Ah. Behaviour has changed since Leopard (e.g. the blinking, it would do something else), but in any case I think it (or rather the equivalent way of doing it, using an explicit key stroke (F10 in my case) for Application Expose) was working fine in Leopard. Anyway, I think the bug is only present in Snow Leopard.
gozer could you do a quick test for me ?
(In reply to comment #2) > Gary do you use spaces ? Yes, I use spaces, but no, I'm not on Snow Leopard.

Same issue here, working with Firefox 11.0 on OS X Lion 10.7.3. Though my description would be a bit different than the original one: - When dragging and dropping an attachment into a new e-mail using the new Dock Expose function in OS X, firefox gets focus again on dropping. E.g. 0. Create a new mail in OS X mail.app 1. Open a url (e.g. https://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&q=test&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og ) 2. Drag an image onto the dock of the mail.app 3. Select (in the expose mode shown) the new mail 4. The bug will now reveil itself: firefox gets focus again, instead of the mail. Strangly, when reproducing, sometimes it works (you can drop the image), sometimes it doesnt.
Nomis, it sounds like the original bug is gone or morphed. Can you retest and revise the bug accordingly?
Flags: needinfo?(Nomis101)
I have tested STR from initial report on El Capitan Beta. And I could not reproduce, it is working nicely for me. Unfortunately El Capitan is not yet releases and I can not test on Yosemite. But I can say, in 10.11 this Bug is fixed.

Thanks
