Since running OS X in VMWare has been problematic for build performance, I'd like to look into getting Mac hardware to run our builds on. Mac Minis sound like a possibly better/cheaper solutions than Xserves. I'd like to get 2 Minis to start testing this out, and ideally figuring out a sane way to get them fully automated (netbooting, imaging, etc). Looking at the Apple store today, I can see: 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - 2GB Ram : $649
a=davida, but we can't get more ram?
Apple will sell you up to 4GB of ram (that would be another 100$), or we can source the RAM elsewhere for cheaper, probably. The default configuration is at 1Gb, and I upped that to 2Gb, since that's the amount of RAM all build machines are at right now. I'd start with just 2Gb from Apple first, see how that goes, then consider increasing the RAM amount if it becomes the bottleneck (in my trending, ram isn't the bottleneck)
roger.
Received and unboxed.
