When Using Firefox to Send Links, Link is Appended Below Signature

(Reporter: mlissner+bugzilla, Unassigned)
Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4pre) Gecko/20090913 Ubuntu/9.04 (jaunty) Firefox/3.5.2
Build Identifier: 3.0b4pre
If I use the "Send Link" feature of Firefox, for some reason it now appends the link at the bottom of the message, rather than putting it at the top.
This is a problem because that means the link is placed BELOW my signature. Not good.links
Not sure if this is a Thunderbird bug or a Firefox one, but I am fairly certain this didn't happen in TB2, so it seems like a TB bug. If it helps, I'm using FF3.5.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
0. Set up the default account in TB to use a signature.
1. Go to Menu > Send Link...
2. Observe the resulting message.
Actual Results:
Link below the sig.
Expected Results:
Link above the sig.

Nope. No errors either in FF's error console or in TB's.

I've just tried with FF3.6a and TB3.0b4 and it's working correctly for me.
The link ends up above my signature.

Not sure if it's related or not, but using mailto links that have body variables also cause this problem.
Assuming that bugzilla will allow, clicking the following (with a signature enabled in your default compose window) should exhibit the problem.
<a href="mailto:dummy@dumdum.com&subject=test&body=This will be below your sig">Click for demo</a>

this is minor, since there is a workaround.
I doubt that the version of FF would make a difference.
OS perhaps, or whether the the sig is a file, vs not a file?
Severity: normal → minor

Also WFM Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5pre) Gecko/20091016 Lightning/1.0pre Shredder/3.0pre
Not blocking on an unconfirmed bug that already had one report of working without an issue.

I can confirm the bug. I have the same problem. Windows XP, FF 3.6, TB 3.0.1
When I send a link from FF, it places the link below my signature, which is against my settings.
My signature settings are:
1. Then, "Start my reply above the quote"
2. and place my signature "below my reply."
It was working fine with TB 2.x
Minor but annoying, as I always need to copy the link above my signature.

I can confirm that this problem still exists on TB 3.0.2 (Windows XP SP3, FF 3.6) using a sig that is a file (html file).
It's not a blocker as the link is still included in the email (just below the sig) but it is annoying.

Could anyone please change status from "UNCONFIRMED" to "NEW"?
I've seen the problem for a long time since v3.0 and it still occurs in Thnuderbird 3.0.5.
It might be a dup of Bug 516868.

As bug 560529 is a dup of 516868, this one is definitely a dup, too.

In my opinion, THIS IS NOT A MINOR BUG!
This bug as well as the behaviour shown by Mozilla programmers is absolutely annoying, it shows that the software is not used by their programmers and that they give a **** on user experience. How can such a ridiculous bug not be fixed since more THAN A YEAR?
Please, go, do your work, even if it's spare time. Than kind of sloppyness is totally unacceptable. I even compile it myself if someone tells me where and which changes I have to make to the sourcecode.
Kind regards,
TN

Additional comment:
This bug is still present on 3.1.7, Windows version. I didn't test other versions; I just experience that Firefox exhibits more and more problems, too. Where do you want to go tomorrow, Mozilla ???

@student...
Instead of shouting, give developers a hand and help them fixing the problem. Or vote for it to raisen importance. With this being said...
I think, this is a bug within "mail quotation".
Go to TB - Account setting - Composition & Adressing:
Select
- Automatically quote = yes
- set to "start reply above quote"
- send link from FF
--> link is inserted above signature :-)
Select
- Automatically quote = yes
- set to "start reply below quote"
- send link from FF
--> link is inserted below quote :-(
I guess, TB processes "send link" as if it were a quote; if you set TB to quote below your signature it just posts the link below the signature as it would for a quote...
PLEASE can anyone set status from UNCONFIRMED to NEW - I may not change status. This bug is reproducible, it is old and it should be fixed.
