Cannot select using mouse click as the inter-word space gets selected too. Then one has to go back and methodically remove the inter-word space underline or avoid selecting with a mouse click but rather select by dragging across the word. Since one often wants to underline a single word, it would be nice if single word select is detected and succeeding underline did not continue into the inter-word space. Need to underline a single word occurs so often that fixing it manually is a real chore. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Select (highlight) a word to be underlined using the left mouse button --- not dragging across the word to be underlined. 2.Click on Underline in the toolbar (U) 3.De-select the selection. Actual Results: The space following the word gets underlined as well because selecting a word always encompasses the space following the word. (Solution may involve only selecting a single word without including the space which follows it.) Expected Results: For proper formatting one has to go back and select the space and remove the underlining. Underline the single word ONLY.

I'm pretty sure this is actually a core/selection bug. Some work is being done in bug 756984 (double click selection) Will revisit this after current core fixes.
